[June 13, 2013] Force Update

June 13 Patch Notes
- Added Morocc Field missing mobs
- Removed Elemental Sword's effect.
- Fixed Tuxedo not showing sprite/Not removing it either. 
- Fixed Valkyrie items for Jedi/Sith classes
- Fixed some messed up headgears, yet again. 
- Removed Miming's card entirely from the server (Until we get an effect, it shall remain removed)
- Fixed issues with Greed (Client patch coming for this)
- Removed Magnum Break from Turtle General
- Fixed an issue with event coins giving that was crashing the server
- Fixed WoE statistics for emp breaking. Atk/Def kills have been stored since its implementation, Emp breaks will start being gathered from now on

[June 13, 2013] Pie Update

  • Hercules memory usage improvements.
    • The server now uses about 130MB~ of ram where as before it'd be using 550+ right after booting.
  • NPCs/Quests/Warps
    • Mora Town (NPCs, Quests and Guides) have been implemented
    • Bifrost Monster spawns and warps have been added/updated
    • Hazy Forest Instance has been added
  • Renewal Formula
    • A lot of skills for both 2nd/Trans/3rd classes have been updated to better mirror official Renewal effects.
    • Renewal stats (ATK, mATK, bATK, Def, VDef, Hit & Flee formula improvements)
  • Bug fixing
    • Issues such as the Storage password have been fixed
  • Minigames
    • Added a Minigames NPC which includes 6 sort of Minigames/Events
    • The events are:
      • Monster Summon: Will spawn a certain amount of mobs in a map and a small portion of those mobs will grant Event Points
      • MVP Summon: Will spawn a random MVP on a random map. Whoever kills it, gets the Event points
      • Monster Hunt: A set of monsters will appear on a random map, everytime you kill one you will gain event points
      • Poring Catcher: 100 Porings will be spawned on a random map and one of those porings is the right poring. Whoever kills it, wins the event
      • Zombie Invasion: A set of Zombies will be spawned on a random map, just like Monster summon, a few of those Zombies will be special and grant you event points
      • Disguise: The NPC will disguise himself a monster, whoever guesses the monster first, wins.
      • Last Man Standing: PvP oriented event. A map will be set as PvP, whoever is the last player alive, wins. 
    • Each one of those events occurs twice a day every 12 hours (So everyone in the different timezones gets a chance to play on the different events)
    • There is a minimum amount of players online required in order for the events to run, for example, there has to be at least 7 people online for the Monster Summon to run when its scheduled
    • You may exchange your Event points for Bronze/Silver/Gold coins.
    • The NPC will be further configured as needed and more events will be added as time goes by.

[May 28, 2013] Update: New Website Launched



   At last! After 6 years, a new website has been launched! You guys gotta check it out! Almost all of the things is new. Dark RO Website Link

   Here are the things that's new.

  • New Design and Concept
   Website has a dark theme with cool design unlike the website of other RO servers which are mostly pretty similar but with small detail changes.


  • New Features
   Gallery and some Statistics. 

General Website

  Gallery

     Gallery works with Facebook and YouTube accounts. In order to "upload" content you must first Login to the CP. Only after you're logged will you be able to access the "Upload" tab. After you've uploaded something, it will need to be approved by a Staff member, and only until then it will be shown in the gallery and social networks!

   Statistics


     As for the Statistics, we're now collecting PvP and WoE statistics. PvP Statistics is based off, well, How many people you kill (From a recent period of time) and WoE is related to how many Emperiums your guild has broken. 

     If you check out the "ranking" you will be able to see a bit more info. 

     For the PvP ranking, you'll see how many times you've died and whats your highest streak (How many people you've killed without dying)

     For the WoE Ranking, it will show you how many people you have killed while defending your castle, and while taking another guild's castle

   Events Section

     Events are now shown in the main site, aswell as shared on our Facebook/Twitter pages.

As for the CP

   Security Information

     The first thing you'll notice when logging in, is that it will ask you for some information (Security information and display name), to set this information you will require your Serial Code! (There is a link under the login section where you can get it sent to the email that is registered on the account. For security reasons this email will not be shown to you).

   If you do not have your serial code or cannot recover it, you can hit the "Cancel" button. However, some of the site's functions will not be enabled for your account. 

   Display Name

     The display name will be used through different places of the website (Some stuff is still pending implementation), however keep in mind, that you may not use the same display name on two accounts (yet).

   Character Sprites

     Character sprites are created on the minute, so right now you can actually see your current "hairstyle" on your character.

   Login and Tradelogs

     You can now access your Login and Tradelogs . Login logs will show you when did you access your characters for the last time, Tradelogs will show your trades for the past month (Up to 200 trades).

   Dark RO Goes Social

     A lot of people has been desperately crying out for V4P, I said it before and I say it again, we will not work on V4P. However, I did implement a Social Points feature.

     What are social points? Simple, you can get social points for "spreading the word" on Facebook and twitter, You can do this once a day and it will basically  post on your wall a message about you playing DarkRO and inviting your friends.

     I'll be listing us in the next few days (We need the banners for this), like for example, if Pie gets to top 50 on RMS, we will do Exp increase. If Force gets to top 50 on rotop100, there will be an event. If both sites get to top 50, we give everyone X social points (These are just ideas, don't take them as granted right now :P)

   What are Social Points?

     In the CP there is a Social Tab. If you click it you will see two links, Facebook and Twitter. If you click the link, there will be a pop-up which will ask you to authorize our App. When you do this, you will be able to "Spread the word" and throw messages like "Hey! I am playing RO @ Dark-RO.net! Join me!" (There are quiet a few phrases that go randomly). And you can do this every 24 hours. Every time you do this, you gain 1 Social point.

     If you are cool and decide to help us populate our gallery, you will also receive social points (Assuming your submission is approved by the rules), and you will win 5 Social Points for those!

      So what do I do with Social points?! You can claim prizes. The prizes are not yet available on the website as we still need to make a good list, but they will be anything (Supplies, Website perks, Forum perks, Ingame Perks or even headgears!).


So, there are a few things pending:
  • Statistics: The former statistics system for WoE was HUGE and MESSED UP big time. I tried to write something similar but it was way too confusing. We will be working on improving the current system to something more useful as time passes by
  • Database: The database is under construction. I just need to work a bit more on it so it gets easy to maintain and keep up with every update. 

  • Design: While the main layout/skeleton will not be changed, there are a lot of color/design improvements to be made. I invite you all to throw in your suggestions on our I&F section to help us improve the site even further (Wether its design wise or with new features!).

  • Bugs: While the website has been throughly tested for the past month and a lot through the past weekend, I do expect bugs to be left, specially with everyone using different browsers. So please, help me help you by fixing those bugs and report them all on our Bugs section of the forum. Keep in mind, everything is logged right now, so if we find you have been abusing any sort of bugs, your account will be permanently unbanned without any chance for it to be unbanned. (Report all bugs you find, for as little as they might be!

  • The website is highly security-oriented. You will need your Serial code to perform a lot of functions, you will need to confirm via email a lot of changes done to your account (If you decide to change passwords and what not) and sessions do not last longer than 15 minutes.

  • The website is heavily ajax oriented, we have come to notice a few people got issues with ajax, so we will be working on improving the non-ajax people's experience as time passes by.

  • The DarkRO Updater has a new page. All past updates are not lost, but need to be re-added. This will be a long task. We also need a possibly better design for the updates page.

[May 28, 2013] Force Update


Join the force or be seduced by the dark side of RO!

   Here are the changes in force as stated by Administrator Matias.

   There's not much content for force on this update. It's mostly bug fixing. Force has been moved from eAthena to Hercules and Force being highly customized has a LOT of changes that needed to be in compatibility with the new software, which took about 1 month between testing and all. So while the new update might not bring much new content now, it will help a lot in the future.

 NPCs
Fixed the Broadcaster's problem with PMs
- Changed Kafras' save point
- Morroc NPCs have been relocated a bit to match the new morroc map
- Yoda has his own sprite now! This means WoE:SE Castles Stones will no longer be Yoda
- Fixed some NoPK restrictions being bypassed (Inside Out Shirt for example)

Items
- Fixed Converters Status Icons
- Changed the implementation for Reins of Mount (It is now a single item)
- Fixed some items with discarded effect not having it discarded

Skills
- Fixed Autoberserk triggering at 75% HP
- Fixed Gravitational Field not ignoring Player's DEF
- Cold, Fire, Lighting bolts get 0.1+0.1*SkillLV Delay
- Thunderstorm delay goes from 2s to 1.5s. Duration goes from 0.5s to 2s
- Stormgust duration goes down from 4.6s to 2.5s (Reducing time between hits)
- Earthspike gets raised to level 10. Casttime turns to 0.7*SkillLV seconds. Cooldown is 1 second fixed.
- Ganbantein's delay is removed.
- Fixed Cold Skin status infliction chances
- Fixed Force Duplication duration issues
- Fixed Basillica's Behavior (Was a bit weird)
- Fixed Aspersio not being removed once you un-equip items
- Monks Combo is now fixed. (Might require some more testing)
- Fixed Ensemble bugs issues 
- Fixed Strip issues

Miscellaneous
- Staff Characters now have a colored chat over their heads. I just need to re-adjust the colors.
- You may not use commands once you're dead now. 
- Shops
- Harmony has been tweaked, should no longer quick you (too often), when using q2.
- Also, Harmony Sprite Edit bans are active again! Boo all the cheaters :P
- Finally, and something I know a lot of you have been waiting for, you can now Vend and create S/B pubs in towns. As a result of this @shop command has been deprecated. (Same restrictions as before apply, you have to do it not in the middle of the road, not near another seller and not near an NPC)

 The development team will now focus on these projects:
  • Client side bugs (Description issues and such), there might be a lot of those, so give us a hand and report them all!
  • Renewal Items balancing (This update brought quite some new items as did the past, but some of those items are unbalanced. Balancing takes a lot of testing and time, so its going to be one big project)
  • Class improvements (Some classes have been slightly left off the whole Balancing work we've been doing in the past, such as Gunslinger)
And well, in general you can expect updates to come a lot more often thanks to this emulator change!

[May 27, 2013] Major Update in Pie


    Take up the challenge and play Dark RO Pie! Invite your friends as well to this great adventure!

   An extensive explanation of the update of Dark RO Pie as stated by Administrator Matias.

  • Pie will be undergoing a beta phase
           -Changing to renewal is a major issue, as it changes the gameplay a lot. Things might get changed, balanced, improved, tweaked, removed, implemented, and what not. This beta phase will last as long as needed, however we don't expect it to last more than 2-3 months top.
           -We might disable or enable things as needed in order to achieve everything that we want, which is bring back Pie to life, make it entertaining and active.
           -New commands such as @seeitems and @dance (Type @commands ingame for more info on available commands).


  • From eAthena to Hercules
           -DarkRO has always worked with eAthena, despite the many forks that have appeared all  through the years, however for the past 1-2 years, eAthena's development has decreased a LOT, mainly because there have been no more pre-re updates and some internal issues within the community/staff. There have been a few forks and the last one to appear is Hercules (http://www.hercules.ws), which has been having a HUGE development activity in a really short period of time. The staff is highly serious and competent, making it by far the best choice to go with now.
           -They are really trying to pull a decent emulator with a lot of work to improve the server's performance, code, features and such. With this, you can expect a high level of updates and development activity and a really stable server (I am actually really proud, the new test server has proven to be far more stable than the previous one and a lot less resource consuming, giving a far better performance, which is something they're highly concerned about).
           -The new emulator has a lot of development level, which means a lot of bug fixing from their side, a lot of improvements and a lot of updates for everyone. Also something pretty big is the resource usage, they've managed to cut it down to 1/3 of what eAthena had. So it means a far better performance, more stable server and all those nice perks you guys don't really notice but the machine it is hosted on does.


  • Pie will be updated to renewal mechanics and renewal content
           -Content should be up to Episode 14, just right Before Eclage implementation. Renewal changes the game mechanics on its most part, making it almost a brand new game to start playing and learning.

  • The rates will not be modified
           -There is also a rather big extent of people who enjoy playing low rates, so there shall be no need for changing the rates on Pie. We've throughout discussed this and at some point we will make Battle Manuals questable for those interested in a higher experience situation. (This still has to be worked on and might take some time to think how to do it properly).

  • Third jobs will be temporarily disabled
           -Renewal was built for a 3rd job realm. There is no denying in that. However, in order to maintain a certain level of balance we have decided to disable 3rd Jobs implementation until the population grows to a certain extent.This should help current and new players who are a bit off in their leveling to catch up and get more people to Trans level, so once 3rd jobs are released, a lot of people will be able to play together and party without a major gap in the levels for parties. (Not to mention the advantages people could get through WoE/PvE to gain better equipment and remain being OP in comparison to new comers)

  • Godly and high level equipment will have their effect discarded temporarily
           -To further on balancing out old vs new players, we've decided to temporarily disable all high level equipment and anything that could be slightly overpowered, specially when it comes to WoE. Some of the items that will be disabled would be: Dragon Wings, Hokage Hat, Icarus Wings, Valkyrie items, Godly items, Satan Morroc and Naght Seger drops. (This won't necessarily be all of it, we might disable some more items or disable them through the beta period in order to reduce the gap.)

  • WoE changes/Battlegrounds
           -WoE 2.0 Will NOT be enabled for now.
           -WoE/Battlegrounds will be enabled but only with 1 agit. All the other castles will remain closed. (It will be the same castle for every WoE.) This castle will have random castle drops to allow everyone gather required quest items and such. All Castles will be resetted. Yggdrassil Berries and Seeds will be disabled on WoE and Battlegrounds.

  • Staff changes
           -We've decided to let go all the staff members of Pie. Such small community doesn't require high amount of Staff and its nothing two GMs can't handle. Not to mention that most of Pie's staff has been inactive for a really long time, they havnt been kicked yet, but now is the time.
           -There will be Staff recruitment once the population gives us enough alternatives to recruit active Staff members, worry not as this is a concern, but with a low population as it is, there is no need to do it now.
           -Jero as a new Pie GM.

  • Donations will be disabled temporarily
           -Most of the items will be disabled, donations will also be disabled. While you may still donate if you want to support us, there will be no gift available for now (You will still receive your DPs to claim once donations are available), except for perhaps supplies (No tickets/bonus point gifts for now).
As for everything else, this is meant to balance a bit more the servers meta game.


     Everything that would be disabled (3rd class, WoE, WoE:SE, Battlegrounds, Items) will be enabled as the population grows. For example (I am throwing random numbers), once we reach 30 active players, we will open a second castle, if we reach 50 active players we will open a whole town. If we reach 50 active players we might enable some of the higher level equipment, etc. Once something has proven to be needed and not kill competition, it will be enabled.

Massive Update

   It's been a busy week for me because I'm part of a 1 week activity which lasts until Monday of transcultural nursing where we have to teach nursing students from Missouri about Philippine health beliefs. It's been pretty amazing so far yet really tiring so I was not able to post the update. I hope I'll be able to post either today or on Tuesday.

   As of the moment, I'll be providing the links of the changes that took place as posted by Matias.


   As soon as I get the time, I'll be having an extensive post about the update.
